TOUR DEL BERNINA

Mount Bernina is the highest peak of Central Alps but it is well known not only for the altitude though for the complexity and the beauty of its glaciers. The Tour here described include the climb to the main summit and the traverse of  Palů Peaks.

Period: 2 days on request during the summer
Difficulty: classic alpine route, for mountaineers used to walk.
Equipment: pike axe and crampons, belt, normal equipment for altitude.

Program: 1° day: meeting at 7,00 to the Diavolezza parking square. From the upper station we begin our climb to Palů top(m 3905). We follow the Bellavista Terrace among the glacier until Marco and Rosa Hut (3597 m.)
2° day: climb to the Bernina Peak  (m. 4050); by the final step we follow a sharp ridge along the normal way. On the way back we reach "the Fortress". Arrival to the Morteratsch railway station where a short way by train leads back us to the Diavolezza.

Those who are well trained can climb the famous Biancograt (pict. 1-5). In any case we are going to spend one night by Marco e Rosa Hut (pict. 6-7). Another interesting variation to the classic itinerary is Kuffner route at Piz Palů (pict 8-9).
